About Comparewise
Comparewise was founded with a simple frustration: most product comparison sites don't actually help you decide. They list ten products, give each a score out of ten, and leave you no closer to knowing which one is right for your situation.
So we do something different. Each guide focuses on a specific use case, not a broad category. We explain the trade-offs, name a top pick with clear reasoning, and tell you who each alternative is better for.
Comparewise is independently owned and run by Raef, a software developer based in London. It isn't owned by a retailer, a brand, or a marketing network, and nobody we compare has any say in what we publish.
How we think about recommendations
A comparison that helps one type of buyer make the right choice is more useful than a generic list that helps nobody. That's why we go narrow rather than broad.
We publish our full methodology so you can see how we evaluate products and make up your own mind. And if the best product for a use case doesn't have an affiliate programme, we recommend it anyway. The recommendation always comes first.
How we make money
Comparewise is reader-supported. When you click a product link on our site and buy something, we may earn a commission from the retailer. It doesn't cost you anything extra.
That's how we keep the site free. But we don't let it affect what we recommend:
- We pick our top choice based on quality, value, and fit for the use case, not commission rate.
- If the best option doesn't pay us anything, we still recommend it.
- We don't adjust rankings, hide alternatives, or exaggerate to increase earnings.
- Our review process is the same for every guide.
People come back to sites they trust. That matters more to us than squeezing a few extra quid out of each recommendation.
Our commercial relationships, in full
UK consumer law asks comparison sites to be clear about how money changes hands. Here is the complete picture:
- Product links in our guides are usually affiliate links. If a link earns us commission, the guide says so at the top, before you reach any product.
- Where a product we recommend has no affiliate programme, we link to it anyway and the guide tells you which links those are.
- Some guides may include a quote or enquiry form. Where a company pays us for passing on your enquiry, we say so next to the form.
- We have no ownership ties to any retailer or brand we compare, and none of them pays for placement, ranking, or coverage.
If you ever spot a page where you think this isn't clear enough, email us and we'll fix it.
Editorial independence
No brand or advertiser has input into what we write. We don't accept payment for reviews, sponsored placements, or guaranteed rankings. Products are judged on their merits.
If we get something wrong or a product changes after publication, we update the guide and note the change.
