EE Broadband Review (2026): Is It Any Good?

You're probably here because you're about to sign a 24-month contract and want a straight answer before you do. Here it is, based on Ofcom's complaint data, the Which? 2026 survey, Trustpilot patterns and EE's own published terms, not vibes.
The short version
EE broadband is a strong technical product at a premium price, with service that has improved to merely average. The full fibre speeds are consistent and guaranteed per tier, the WiFi 7 router is ahead of what most rivals ship, and the mobile bundle discounts are real if you're on EE mobile.
Get it if: you have EE mobile (the bundle maths works), you want the best router hardware without buying your own, or you want the gaming add-ons.
Skip it if: you're shopping on price. Plusnet and Vodafone sell the same Openreach wire for less, and where an alt-net covers you, you can get symmetrical speeds and fixed prices EE doesn't offer.

All full fibre (where available), 24-month contracts, £30 activation, WiFi 7 Smart Hub included. These are EE's direct prices; promotional pricing through comparison channels regularly runs a few pounds cheaper with free activation, so it pays to check both.

The price-rise policy, in pounds: EE raises prices every 31 March by a fixed amount: £3/month on contracts started from April 2024, £4/month on contracts from August 2025. Over a 24-month term you'll absorb two rises, so a £31.99 deal becomes roughly £39.99 by the end. Customers who joined after 1 March 2026 were exempted from the 2026 rise; assume you won't be exempt from the next one.
What the data says
- Ofcom complaints (Q1 2026, the latest): EE drew 6 complaints per 100,000 broadband customers, exactly the industry average, in a record-low quarter. Worth knowing: one quarter earlier EE was in the worst three at 10 per 100,000, alongside TalkTalk and Vodafone. The trajectory is real improvement, not noise. For contrast: Plusnet 4 (best), Sky 5, BT 7, TalkTalk 10 (worst).
- Which? 2026 survey: mid-table, around a 70% customer score, marked down on value for money and how hard support is to reach. The Recommended Providers were Zen Internet and Plusnet, not EE.
- Trustpilot, honestly: EE's main profile shows around 4.2/5 across 150,000+ reviews, but that's dominated by mobile customers. The broadband-specific profile sits near 1.3/5 from a few thousand self-selected complaints. Neither number alone is the truth: the fair reading is that most customers are fine and the unhappy minority is loud, mostly about price rises, waits for support, and fault resolution.
- Where EE wins: Expert Reviews' 2026 awards gave EE "Best for Working From Home", with 90% of surveyed customers satisfied with speed. The WiFi 7 Smart Hub, whole-home WiFi guarantee (100Mbps in every room or £100 credit, on eligible kit), and 4G/5G backup on some plans are ahead of the big-brand pack.
The alternatives worth checking
Two kinds of alternative: providers on the same Openreach network as EE (same wire to your house, different price and service), and alt-nets running their own fibre (often faster uploads and fixed prices, but only in their coverage areas).

Switching is easier than you remember
- One Touch Switch: since 2025, your new provider handles the whole move, typically inside ten working days. You never have to ring the old one to cancel.
- Price rises are now fixed by law: Ofcom banned inflation-linked mid-contract rises for new contracts from January 2025. Any rise must be a pounds-and-pence figure shown before you sign, which is why we quote EE's exact £3-£4 figures above.
- On a low income? Social tariffs run £12-20/month for people on Universal Credit or Pension Credit. EE directs eligible customers to BT's social tariff; several providers on this page have their own. Fibrus notably has none.
